From our product to our practices, we are conscious and take accountability for being part of an industry that plays an impact on our planet. We’re on an ever-evolving journey to make positive change, constantly evolving our practices, and bringing to life considered collections (you don’t have to consider).

OUR PRODUCT

The bulk of our collections are created from quality and considered fabrications and natural fibres such as linen, cotton, and silk. We pride ourselves on our use of natural fibres and continue to explore other lower impact materials that get the tick of approval from Mother Nature.  We design and produce our garments with the intention to have a long life, so you can keep wearing them season after season. Your beloved pieces are created by talented teams across India and China. We have been working with most of our partners for over 3-years and have developed strong manufacturing partnerships withour suppliers ensuring they are operating responsibly in line with international-recognised standards.

OUR STORES

We can’t wax lyrical about our considered approach to the planet and why we encourage others to do the same without turning heads to our biggest store projects to date.

Our stores are undertaking big changes, as we transition to renewable electricity to power our spaces. By the end of 2024, we set out to transition 20% of our stores to be powered by certified GreenPower. We are excited to share that we achieved this goal, with 3 of our stores now powered by renewable energy.

We are proud to share that our Gould St, Bondi store space has earned a 4-star Green Star rating demonstrating best practice in sustainable design. Working with renowned Australian Designer, Brahman Perera, we had a goal from conception of the space, to bring to realisation our most sustainable shopfit to date. We wanted to bring to life a space that not only visually represents who we are, but also directly reflects our values and what’s important to us.

Introduced with this space was a new standard of sustainable retail design and practices for DISSH. Working closely with an environmental consultant to achieve our first Green Star rating, we have set a new benchmark for our future long-term spaces – considering sustainability at the forefront of every element.

Alongside this, our customer packaging has also had a sustainable glow-up, with all new boutique bags made from 80% recycled paper. And gone are the days of paper receipts — every customer now receives their proof of purchase digitally.

CIRCULARITY

In October 2021, we announced our partnership with Thread Together, donating and redistributing any out-of-season stock to communities in need, including: the homeless, youth at risk, Indigenous communities, survivors of domestic violence, refugees, long term unemployed, and those impacted by natural disasters. The Thread Together team works diligently to deliver a tailored service to each person, whilst cementing itself as an effective solution for the textile waste problem in Australia.

We also donate clothes to Suited to Success. This supports their work to help people overcome barriers to employment through their styling and clothing services with the goal for every client to feel empowered.

If there’s any product that's unable to be donated to Thread Together or Suited To Success, we work Upparel who recycle these textiles in Australia and create new purpose for these products like insulation, filling for furniture, and more. In 2024, we prevented 7,175kg of carbon emissions by recycling with Upparel. Less landfill, more better habits.

The combination of these efforts mean that DISSH garments are avoiding landfill and we are mitigating our environmental impact through engaging in these circularity practices. Though this is only the beginning. As DISSH expands into new markets we recognise our place in an industry which has a huge impact on the planet. With this in mind, we’re focused on implementing sustainable systems and practices to reduce our footprint and serve our conscious customers in a way that’s meaningful to us. We look forward to taking you on this journey too.

OUR PACKAGING

Plastic is not fantastic. You know this, and so do we. So, to help put an end to single use plastics, your DISSH pieces come to you in POLLAST!C mailers, made from 100% rescued ocean bound plastic pollution from coastal Southeast Asia. These are sourced from Better Packaging, a carbon-free Certified B Corporation. Impressive stuff.

We also know there’s nothing better than ripping open a package you’ve been waiting for but try to show some restraint: POLLAST!C bags are made to be reused. Inside, you’ll find no unnecessary brand packaging, either. Just your garments sealed in a clear bag, that’s - you guessed it - recycled.
