Behind The Build: High Street, Armadale

And just like that... Armadale is open. The latest iteration of the physical DISSH experience, discover the details of our High Street store in Melbourne.

From the heritage listed buildings, café fronts, luxury boutique stores, and bustling streets, Melbourne’s High Street in Armadale is a vibrant hub of activity. Naturally, we had to get in on the action.

Designed together with Brahman Perera (Brem), our Armadale space is arguably our most elevated store experience to date, what with its translucent fibreglass moon created by Australian artist, Amy Vidler, that lights up the window at night like a beacon from the street, the deep rich chocolate timber frames, a portal between rooms, and chunky travertine shelving, all of which is complimented by a considered curation of furniture and styling pieces from local makers and artists.

"DISSH Armadale was concepted to be a sophisticated evolution of the brand DNA, parlayed into the artistic sentiment of the Melbourne landscape."
Brahman Perera

"Styling items are all sourced from local makers and artists, with an emphasis on female led pieces".

As you step through the door, our dual timber columns welcome you in from the madness of the outside world. This design feature, reiterated on and evolved from our Bondi Store, heroes the High Street palette, and spans the height of the space, adding to the openness and grandeur of our new home.

This, along with our contrasting textures is reflective of our approach across all our spaces and collections, creating interest and warmth through neutral materials that deliver a calming and luxurious environment for all.

Like all our stores before it, High Street features our signature travertine counter along with a few fresh additions: chunking shelving and travertine mosaic flooring of the fitting room foyer. A masterpiece that deserves all your attention, but admittedly might fall in at a close second behind the room’s custom centrepiece table by Melbourne-based furniture and art studio, Den Holm.

Speaking of custom things that deserve a shout out, our DISSH fitting room lighting allows you to personalise your changeroom experience at the touch of a button. From natural to a more golden glow or dark and moody, you decide your selfies future.
