The Global Runway
Come on a journey with us through the middle of a vibrant Sunflower Field, nestled in our home along Queensland’s Scenic Rim. Unveiling the latest installation of our virtual Global Runway, we bring new season collections to life in our natural surrounds through SUNMOTION.
Launching the season with a statement, you'll fall in love with signature fashion favourites, bold prints in earthy colours, luxurious yet relaxed tailoring, '70s inspired denim moments, and luminous silhouettes that glisten day to night. Owner & Director, Lucy Henry-Hicks, describes what to expect this season, “The biggest shift you’ll notice in this 2022 runway is the range of textures; whilst we have stayed true to our core, we’ve also introduced a number of new fabrications – a new linen quality, high shine satins, sueded cupro, a cotton tencel linen blend with beautiful drapability, and a bold cotton poplin.”
Walking the golden runway are iconic Australian models and friends of the brand, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Lea Dina Seelenmeyer and Shimma Marie, joined by DISSH runway debuts from the beautiful Samantha Harris, Jessica Gomes and Nylow Ajing.
Continuing our signature low key luxury, SUNMOTION showcases fresh pieces released in exclusive drops across the next three months. Debuting with Drop One, Lucy shares the inspiration behind the runway, “Building on our connection with the beautiful Australian Landscape, the colour palette is inspired by rich earthy tones.”
Unveiling the print of the runway, our Alex Watercolour pieces combine tonal brown hues that transcend and transform, to create an eclectic print design for the effortless fashion cool girl. Elevated linen tailoring returns with our everyday Logan Suiting, with clean and considered pieces made for the stylish professional. Alongside that, our luxurious Kirby Suit sets arrive in rich shades of cream, mushroom and black. When describing our suiting, Lucy reveals “It’s considered, elevated and effortless – while also being strong, bold and confident.” We continue to hero elevated knit essentials, with our comfortable yet flattering Aria Knitwear capsule featuring wide boat necklines and sleek column silhouettes. Like the entire collection, our Indigo Denim range is underpinned by 70’s inspired femininity, bridging hemispheres and seasons.
Shot at the stunning Kalbar Sunflower Farm nestled in the dramatic mountain ranges of the Scenic Rim, our SUNMOTION location carries special significance. Not only was it a beautiful backdrop giving our outdoor runway a golden glow, but like sunflowers we are always chasing the sun. From the laidback luxury of our designs to the sun dipped hues we love, DISSH is born out of the sunshine state. As sunflowers grow by following the course of the sun, we pay homage to our brand evolution with a nod to SUNMOTION along the breathtaking golden runway. In Lucy's words, "The sunflower represents fresh beginnings and a bright future. It’s hard not to smile when you see a sunflower."
We sat down with playful beauty, Bambi, to hear her thoughts on key collection pieces from the runway. “I love how DISSH has made clothes you can literally just put on, and you’re ready to go. Being someone who does travel a lot for work, having pieces I can grab from my luggage throughout different places and seasons is so great.”
When asked what it was like to shoot amongst the sunflowers, Bambi said “The next time I walk a runway, I’m going to imagine the audience as sunflowers! I loved being able to do the show, and just have flowers looking back at us.”
Our Global Runway highlights DISSH in full bloom, and we’re so excited to unveil our latest collections with you. A final note from Lucy, “With both quality and fashion relevance driving this collection, we are really looking forward to feedback from our loyal customers.”
Drop One is now available to shop online and in select stores.
DISSH acknowledges the Yuggera Ugarapul People as the Traditional Custodians of the land in which this campaign took place. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today and always, who have walked upon and cared for this beautiful land for thousands of years; and to their Elders both past, present and emerging.
